This book is second in a series of three: Single Sounds, Three Letter Words and Blending Sounds.

When using this book, children should already have a firm grasp of single sounds, the relationship between single sounds and letters.

Three Letter Words introduces word families, and reinforces skills used for teaching reading. Children blend, recognise and build three-letter word families in a consonant, vowel, consonant pattern eg m-a-p, n-e-t.

A large array of three letter words is covered to offer children with as many opportunities as possible to decode words, and to build an extensive sight word vocabulary.

A variety of different exercises is covered. Skills such as identifying, blending, writing, drawing, reading and matching words are developed.

Foundation style of lettering has been used throughout the book, so children are able to visualise print and apply it to their writing.
